I have continuously painted and sold work over the years, striving to express my vision of art. I was originally drawn to painting as a visual manifestation of internal processes of the human psyche. The sensual, tactile qualities of a painting were what interested me most. What you see is what you get. Over time, I began to see more. The manner in which one creates art defines the artist as well as the artwork. What is true of the artist has resonance with the observer. The communication of the artwork is really its greatest relevance. To paint freely and honestly speaks to the humanity of all.

Though I have studied all manner of visual art, I remain a painter and am obsessed with the process and physical surface of a painting. The nuances of color and application of paint mean more to me than the picture created. The intent is actually exposed more by the medium than any pictorial content of the artwork. A brushstroke says as much about a painting as the picture. I have worked in mixed media and digital creation, but prefer oil paint as a medium because of the paint quality, color and nuances of surface. I generally begin with an intuitive idea that is completed during the work. I enjoy the mystery and discovery of artistic creation.
